The Opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Research Assistant to join the Personalised Cancer Therapeutics group within our Cancer division. The Research Assistant, RA2-3 is accountable under supervision for conducting experiments within his/her Research Division. This is a 7 month maternity leave contract and would be ideal for a future PhD student.


To be considered for this position, you will possess the following key skills and attributes: 

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Science or Medicine (with honours)
  • Experience with mammalian tissue culture and molecular techniques including flow cytometry, western blotting, PCR, transfection and molecular cell biology.
  • Performing drug studies in cell lines (cell viability analysis: MTT, MTS, alamar blue or similar)
  • Competent computer skills (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
  • Strong commitment to quality
  • Team-focused approach
  • High degree of flexibility
  • Good communication skills
  • Comfortable with basic decision making


Highly desirable:

  • Experience with handling rodents, performing treatment studies
  • Interest in completing a PhD
  • Ability to handle genomic/transcriptomic data and perform bioinformatics analyses will also be rated highly.
  • Competent computer skills (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
